Renex ABC Standard

Fomtec Renex ABC Standard is a general purpose dry chemical powder with a good efficiency and performance in fires of class A, B, C and E (up to 1,000 volts). Renex ABC Standard is a mixture of highly efficient mono-ammonium phosphate and ammonium sulphate ground to selected particle sizes and made resistant to influences of climatic extremes by means of flow promoting and moisture repellent additives.

Quality control and approvals

Renex powders are manufactured and tested according to European Standard EN615 (1995).


Subject to extinguishing quality the minimum expected fire rating obtained using Renex ABC Standard in a 6 kg portable fire extinguisher is 21A / 144B.

Extinguishing mechanism

In addition to the particle surface extinguishing effect of a Class B powder, Class ABCE powders have low melting/decomposition points in the order of 150˚C to 180˚C, and when these powders are applied to hot and smouldering surfaces, the particles fuse and swell to form a barrier which excludes oxygen and thereby completes the extinguishing process and prevents re-ignition.


Renex powders are available in a range of pack sizes and styles. Renex ABC Standard powder can be supplied in 25 kilo multiwall paper sacks, PE transparent plastic wrapped on pallets of 1000 kilo. These packages are suitable for containerized shipment. Powders can also be supplied in 1000 kilo Big Bags to simplify handling and to feed into extinguisher filling machine hoppers. This type of packaging is also suitable for containerized shipment.


Renex powders are formulated not to be affected by long term storage. However, although all powders are stable at low temperatures, there are upper temperature limits for storage which will depend on the chemical nature of the particular powder. As a general guide, temperatures of 50˚C should not be exceeded. Powders should be stored in a dry location in original packaging until required for use.
